After 27 years coaching NCAA field hockey — including a NCAA Division I National Championship title — Rolf van de Kerkhof felt it was time for a new chapter. One that let him spend more time with family while continuing his passion: helping young student athletes to achieve their field hockey aspirations.
Coaching Accomplishments
Originally from the Netherlands, Rolf crossed the Atlantic in 1998 taking his first step into an NCAA coaching career at Vassar College. Rolf never looked back, launching an illustrious Division I coaching career that spanned Michigan State University and the University of Delaware. Along the way, he:
- Coached and mentored hundreds of elite student-athletes
- Built championship-winning programs: in the Big Ten and CAA conferences, and the pinnacle NCAA Division I National Title (2016)
- Helped players grow into confident leaders on and off the field
- Established Empower Field Hockey, a Delaware-based developmental program
- Served as USA Field Hockey - Olympic Development Head Coach & Coach Educator
